How to Perform a Stocktake with RMStockII

A complete step-by-step guide to performing a stocktake using your barcode scanner and the RMStockII software, from initial preparation to processing the final count in Retail Manager.
Phase 1: Preparation (The Day Before)
- Charge Your Scanners To ensure your scanners last the entire stocktake, place them on their charging cradles the night before you begin.
Phase 2: Pre-Count Setup (Day of Stocktake)
- Check for an Existing Stocktake in Retail Manager Open Retail Manager and navigate to Stock Management > Stocktake. Ensure the grid is empty. If it is not, you must click Clear List before proceeding.
- Delete All Data from the Scanner On the scanner’s main menu, tap System Menu, then Delete All Data. You will be asked to confirm this action three times.
Phase 3: Counting
- Load the Latest Item List to the Scanner On the PC: In the RMStockII app, click Download Files for Scanner, then Create Files for Download to SFTP Server. Confirm to send the file to the server. On the Scanner: From the main menu, tap Receive Data to download the item list.
- Count Your Stock On the scanner, tap Inventory, then Stocktake. Enter a Transaction Identifier (or leave blank) and tap OK. Begin scanning items and entering quantities.
Phase 4: Processing the Count
- Send Count Data from Scanner to PC From the scanner’s main menu, tap Send Data.
- Process the Stocktake on the PC In the RMStockII PC app, click the main Stocktake button, then Upload and Process Stocktake Scanner Data. Click Process Stocktake Data Received from Scanner to import the count.
- Final Review and Commit in Retail Manager Go back to Retail Manager > Stock Management > Stocktake to see your counts in the grid. Before committing, use the Apply Updates function in RMStockII to account for recent sales or returns. Once verified, commit the stocktake as per your normal procedure.
